On 09th November 1984, seven people (Reverend Jan Koutjie, Cely Goeltom, Lucky Kalonta, Daud Kapa, Seli Kapa, Harlan Setiawan, and Tony Surbakti) signed a proposal to the UCA Synod of Victoria to obtain a place of worship.
This small group had received enormous supports from Reverend Musa Sinulingga from Sydney, and Reverend Des Cousin of Napean Prebytery.
On Sunday 24th February 1985, Indonesian Congregation is formed as part of Malvern Uniting Church and worshipped for the 1st time time in 12-14 Spring Rd, Malvern VIC whom Reverend Des Cousin was the 1st preacher.
On 28th September 1996, the English-speaking congregation of Malvern Uniting Church ended, and relinguished the church building to the Indonesian-speaking congregation. Since then, this congregation became an independent congregation, and changed its name to Malvern Indonesian Parish.
In July 1999, the status of this congregation became Parish Mission of UCA. The ministers who had served full time in the congregation included Reverend Corallie Ling, Reverend Teggy Teo Sugianto, Reverend Ron Townsend, Reverend David Brown, and Reverend Markus Pingak.
In June 2001, the St Stephen UCA at 158 Balaclava Rd Caulfied was offered by the Napean Presbytery. The offer was accepted gratefully.
The final service of the current congregation in Malvern was on Sunday 09th September 2001, and the opening service at the new place in Caulfield was held on Sunday 16th September 2001.
In line with the new place and the new era, a new name of Caulfield Indonesian Uniting Church Parish Mission is adopted.
